Happy Moday everyone! Although it’s Monday and the beginning of the work week again, I am fresh off a weekend adventure and feeling good.
I spent the day yesterday traveling about the Point Reyes National Seashore, which, if you’re unfamiliar with, is a great way to spend a sunday. There is so much to see with several beaches, hiking trails, and wildlife around every corner.

Around one of the corners is the historic D Ranch. The D was a dairy farm that was built between 1868 to 1872, but began operations in 1870. The D was part of a massive dairy empire that included over 30 ranches and nearly 300 head of cattle.

The ranch operated up until 1998, when I believe it fell victim to the settlement agreement between the ranchers and the Point Reyes National Seashore, which closed 12 ranches in total.

To be clear, I am not a historian, and any “facts” I presented here may be totally wrong. But I am a photographer, so I can speak to that aspect of this adventure. I love finding places like this that have found a way to exist long after their use, a testament to the resiliancy that humans build with. I often prefer to shoot in black and white for these types of shoots as I like to focus on the subject without the distraction of color. I sued my Nikon Zf, the 40mm f2 SE, and a yellow filter on the lens to increase the contrast a touch.

I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed capturing them, Thanks for reading, thanks for viewing, have a great day. Don’t foget to like, share, and follow me for more recipes.
